It is hard for Gun Owners Alliance to imagine the NRA embracing Project (Exile) Gun Gulag. We have made this comment before, and the original alerts can be found at:

But don't just take it from us, that NRA is promoting gun control through the Project (Exile) Gun Gulag. Read the e-mail below my comments, from a brother in arms in Australia.

Chris,
When I saw the posts about Wayne LaPierre of the NRA sharing a forum
and agreeing with HCI people on the so called Project Exile, I found it
hard to believe that an organisation, supposedly safeguarding 2nd amendment
rights, would even sit in the same room as the gun grabbers, unless it
was to debunk the lies and falsehoods told by
these people.
What LaPierre, and the NRA, seems to be advocating in this Project Exile program is a complete acceptance of Australian style laws restricting the ability of people to have guns available to defend their homes, families and themselves. But their version is even worse!! It imposes without restriction, even greater penalties than in police state Australia for technical or self defence uses of a gun.
For example: In Australia firearms are generally not allowed to be owned for self defence purposes at all for private citizens. Under the most common concealable weapons licence for a pistol that is for use only at an approved pistol range for competition/sporting purposes. I can only take the gun out of the approved mandatory storage safe, place it in an approved locked container and take it to the pistol club ensuring that it is either locked in the boot or locked out of site in the interior of the car. I then am allowed to take it out of the container at the range and shoot it. I am not allowed to 'carry' it, that is wear it in a holster, anywhere but at the range.
So if at home I have the pistol out of safe for other than cleaning or maintenance purposes or actually have it in a holster in my secure possession, I am committing a breach of the licence provisions and mandatory storage requirements. If I actually have a loaded magazine in the gun, I also commit a breach of the regulations. If I then dare to carry the gun concealed on my person out of the house, at night when I am in an area of high risk, then in addition to breaching the provisions of my licence to own a handgun, I am then guilty of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place without reasonable excuse. As mentioned in my previous article all of these are provisions of sections of the Weapons Act 1990 and the Weapons Regulations 1996 as amended in 1998, in my state and in similar acts through out Australia.
So what are the potential legal penalties. As mentioned in my article
on mandatory storage, the penalties are loss of licence, naturally as I
am now a criminal, fines and potential jail terms of anywhere from one
year up depending on the circumstances. But the difference is that the
jail terms are not automatic, with a good lawyer and in
circumstances of genuine fear of attack and a defensive situation,
the jail terms may be avoided.
With the Project Exile provisions, if I go out at night carrying a concealed weapon without a carry permit, or if I do not comply with whatever state required storage requirements that the NRA is pushing for, because of self defence concerns for my family or myself, bingo go to jail without a get out of jail free card. And if I do this three times in America, I go to jail for life! Even Australia does not have such draconian laws! How can NRA promote the "Project Exile?"
Naturally, a great many of Australian firearm owners deliberately break these regulations and have the necessary scenarios set up in their homes and elsewhere to minimise their exposure to the laws if needed.
But the bottom line is that we should not have to do this. Can anyone
not believe that once these anti gun provisions are in place that the regulations
covering storage, licencing to own handguns, and others to limit even further
the defensive use of them will not come into place by a traitorous cabal
of the NRA, congressmen and senators,
cheered on by HCI, Brady, and her cowardly comrades, Schumer and
Feinstein.
IF the American gun owners and members of the NRA do not get rid of LaPierre, Heston and all other directors who have compromised away their constitutional rights before you get rid of Clinton and hopefully miss out on Al Gore, then I predict within the term of the next President, you will have laws enacted just like ours.
For the sake of America and the hope of many of us in the rest of the work, fight these quislings to the end.
