"Pro-Gun Stalwart Endorsement - Jerry Patterson"
Chris W. Stark - Director & email editor

In the course of one's lifetime, we are seldom fortunate enough to run across individuals we can really feel good about, especially politicians!

I have been quite privileged to have met, and work closely with such an individual. Jerry Patterson was the author, and quite instrumental in passing the Texas "shall issue" Concealed Handgun License (CHL), when he was a Texas Senator in 1995. He is now running for a "Statewide" office in Texas, the Texas Land Commissioner office. His office would have a far reaching impact for landowners (and gunowners), including, but not limited to, Rifle ranges and property rights, that would protect the common gunowner.

In Texas, if you hold a Statewide office, it potentially grooms you for a National political office, just as the Texas Governor's office in part, groomed our President (Bush), to eventually become our president. If you are not a Texan, please remember, you may be seeing Jerry Patterson's name in a National spotlight, in the not-so distant future. In the meantime, please consider helping Jerry Patterson with his bid for the Texas Land Commissioner office! Go to http://www.votepatterson.com

Who knows, your help may lead Jerry Patterson to eventually work in the halls of Congress in Washington, D.C., for a National "shall issue" Concealed Handgun License (CHL), and other like minded issues. The sky is the limit!

With Respect,

Gun Owners Alliance

NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION, OTHERS ENDORSE PATTERSON

(Austin, TX) Today, former senator Jerry Patterson released his growing list of endorsements in his race for Texas Land Commissioner, which includes the National Rifle Association and its state branch the Texas State Rifle Association. The diverse list includes Texans for Lawsuit Reform (TLR), a popular statewide organization dedicated to ending lawsuit abuse, the Texas Oil and Gas Association (TXOGA), the Texas Society for Professional Engineers, the Texas Municipal Police Association and the Republican National Hispanic Assembly.

"These endorsements represent more than name-dropping," said Patterson. "They clearly indicate that my tireless advocacy of private property rights, gun rights and individual liberty has earned support from a diverse group of Texans across the state.  I am proud to have their endorsements."

The NRA endorsement is significant in a race where both Patterson and his opponent support gun rights.  In a letter from NRA State Liaison Tara Reilly Mica, the NRA endorsement is based on Patterson¹s "outstanding record of support while serving in the Texas Senate" and his "continued advocacy for the Second Amendment rights of Texas' law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen." The letter and a photo of Patterson with Mica and TSRA's Alice Tripp are available on the Patterson website.

As Land Commissioner, Patterson will manage 20 million acres of state land, including leasing state land for oil and gas exploration and development. Accordingly, key agricultural and energy industry organizations have added their support to Patterson campaign, including TXOGA, the Chemical Council, the Texas Propane Gas Association, the Texas Dairy Farmers Association, and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers.  Conservative organizations that endorsed Patterson in the Republican primary include the Young Conservatives of Texas and the Texas Right to Life Committee.

Patterson won the March 2002 Republican primary to become his party's nominee for Texas Land Commissioner.  Previously, he served six years as state senator and authored major legislation such as the Texas Concealed Handgun Law and the law creating Texas Veterans Homes.  A Vietnam veteran and Marine aviator, Patterson retired as Lt. Col. in the Marine Corps Reserve in 1991, and now serves as statewide spokesman for the American Red Cross.  He and his wife Jennifer reside in Austin.
